People Of Beijing Stand Up As Joint Signatories
In Support Of Falungong

Making thumbprint is an ancient tradition of china from taking
loans, making deeds to signing contracts, it is used to
formalize all kinds of civil activities in China.

In recent years, signatures and thumbprints have become
a special way for common citizens to voice
their grievances and discontent.

After thousands of citizens from Liaoning, Hebei, Heilongjiang
and Tangshan province jointly presented their thumbprints to
the authorities to demand an end to the persecution of
Falungong, a similar remarkable deed appeared in Beijing.

According to a report from US based website Minghui,
Falungong practitioner Pangyou was originally the director
of Planning Office of the Olympic Village in Wali township,
Chaoyang district of Beijing.
He subsequently served as manager of "Xuri" real estate
development company in Wali township.
After the CCP began persecuting Falungong, Pangyou was
illegally abducted by the authorities on 7 occasions since
2000 for his refusal to give up his faith.

He was held in prison for a total of 12 years.

On Dec. 5, Pangyou who was just released from imprisonment,
was once again abducted by the local police and was held in a
detention centre while he was visiting his business friends in
Yan’an city, Shanxi province.
Thereafter, he was convicted by the CCP Public Security
Department without any evidence, simply on the ground
of his identity as a Falungong practitioner.

He was once again arrested illegally.

To rescue Pangyou, Pangyou’s family and friends initiated a
“We need your help to uphold justice” campaign
in Beijing, mid-January.

They collected signatures among the Beijing people.

They originally thought that collecting signatures from the
Beijing public would be exceedingly difficult as Beijing,
being the CCP’s primary base, suffers from the strictest
suppression and surveillance.
But to their surprise, there were many people from Beijing
who came forth, undaunted by CCP’s tight totalitarian rule.
They were not afraid to give their signatures and thumbprints.

Beijing citizen Mr Wei, a signatory of the campaign:
I am not worried, I am not afraid, and I am not scared of
being implicated to pursue what I think is justice.

At present, there are already 97 people who gave their
signatures and thumbprints to the campaign booklet.
When asked about their reasons for signing, most of them
responded, honestly and simply: Because Falungong
practitioners are all good people.

Mr Wei: The Falungong practititioners here are
all good people.
I think every one of them is great.
Therefore I signed without a doubt.
These people would rather suffer than take
advantage of others.

Beijing citizen Mr Li, another signatory of the campaign:
The society of China needs Falungong practitioners.
In our society today, look at how low our moral standards
have fallen to?
Falungong benefits the society,
the workplace, family and individuals.
It does not bring us a single harm.

Among some of the signatories are also people who once
benefited from Falungong, and have since been looking
for opportunities to return the grace.

They signed without hesitation the moment they heard
about rescuing Falungong practitioners.
Some of them even brought their family and friends.

Some did not even know Pangyou, and did so purely out
of justice and disapproval of the authorities’
persecution of Falungong.

Mr Li: I did not know him, but I want to sign for him.
Why do you arrest him?
Aren’t these practitioners all good people?
Bad people will not practice Falungong.
You (CCP) hire all the street scoundrels and scum
to go after him.
What are you trying to achieve by
capturing these practitioners?

According to the creators of the campaign, among the
signatories were not only ordinary citizens, but also retired
CCP officials, and other officials such as the director of
women affairs and village chiefs.

Falungong spokesperson Zhang Erping: All these years the CCP
has abused Falungong – it is more than a decade of
persecution and slander.

The common folks do not actually accept all this.
This (campaign) also told us another thing.

Those that dare to stand up for Falungong, they actually do
so because they have seen what Falungong does,
and everything that Falungong practitioners have done.

In recent years, cases of people from mainland China giving
signatures and thumbprints in support of Falungong
practitioners have been very common.

In as early as 2009, 376 villagers from Fushun city,
Liaoning province, sought redress for Falungong
practitioner Xu Dawei.

This act drew the wrath of former secretary of CCP Politics
and Law Committee, Zhou Yongkang.
In 2012, similar events appeared in Hebei province.

There were "300 thumbprints" from Botou city,
"700 thumbprints" from Zhengding county and
"5300 thumbprints" from Tangshan city.

All these thumbprints were collected for rescue operations
and support campaigns for Falungong practitioners.

There were also "2800 thumbprints" collected for the rescue
of Falungong practitioner Liu Lianyou in Tianjin city, 2013,
and "15000 thumbprints" collected to rescue Falungong
practitioner Qin Yueming in Yichun city of Heilongjiang.

Zhang Erping: The CCP has lost all honour and credibility
among the Chinese people.
The Chinese people are beginning to wake up from these
years of oppression and lies.

This is a significant transitory period for the Chinese society
and for history at large.
More and more Chinese people are beginning to realize and
take the right stand on the side of justice.

At present, Pangyou’s case has already been taken up by a
human rights lawyer in Beijing.
Meanwhile, the signature campaign to rescue Pangyou continues.
