RMB $600,000 wins you Miss International in Chongqing?

The three winners of the 52nd Miss International
in Chongqing Division is whipping up questions.
A netizen revealed on-line that a $600,000 RMB
sponsorship would determine the top three contestants.
An audience pointed out that judges passed notes
during the competition.
A contestant also revealed that the top two winners
were picked as early as the training phase.
It is said that fraud involving competitions in China such as
this, that are driven by money and power are no longer news.

People were outraged after the three winners of the 52nd
Miss International in Chongqing Division was finalized.
They were criticized to obviously fall below the average
beauty standard of Chongqing.
Many referred it as a “secret operation by the
organizing committee”, “hidden rules” on the web.

Singer and writer, Yang Yinbo said that, as a Chongqing native,
he's well aware of the name "Miss Chongqing" presented in Chongqing where beauties are everywhere.
People will definitely question if the pageant turns
out to be unconvincing.

Zhou Xiaoyun, a netizen known for exposing the Lu Meimei
incident online recently,
publicized the first known 52nd Miss International
China Investment Manual on-line.
The manual requests an application fee of 600,000 RMB
from an organization with an independent and
legal qualification to the Competition Committee
for undertaking divisional contest.

Zhou Xiaoyun wrote on his post, "600,000 RMB to host
the divisional contest, as we all know,
the unspoken rule in beauty pageant is that whoever sponsors
the most gets to say who will be the top three finalists."

Many responded to his post and indicated that the
inside stories of the beauty pageant are surfaced.

Ye Kuangzeb, a Chinese poet and culture critique,
believes that
fraud exists in many competitions in China for two reasons,
one is money, and the other is power.

Ye Kuangzen: "In fact, many domestic agencies
hosting competitions not to build an impartial and objective standard, but simply to profit.
Awards only serve to cover the profit as a name.
They can only obey the sponsors in order to gain the profit.
Power is probably also part of the fraud.

To host any activities related to the city or the nation
will require support from the authorities.
Therefore, officials are also controlling the competition
process at the back."

The Chongqing Morning Post interviewed a top ten
contestant who will not reveal her name.
She indicated that during the contest, the teacher in charge
of training was particularly friendly to certain contestants,
and the top two finalists were already guessed. During the vote,
within two hours, the winner won more than 20,000 votes.
In the official competition, this contestant did not even get
to have a number plate. She walked the stage one round and that was it.

An audience of the pageant show, Mr. Chen, said
to the Chongqing Morning Post that
the beauty contest was rushed through with the judges
passing notes half-way.

Ye Kuangzen believe that the limited supervision and
freedom in the Chinese media
have allowed judges to play favor against their conscience
in order to please the officials and gain benefit.

Ye Kuangzen: "If the media is completely open, I believe that
the awareness and self-correcting deviations will slowly emerge
and everyone will regain his occupational morality and conscience, especially those authority figures."

Yang Yinbo analyzes the beauty standard from the spiritual
level and believes that elegance and charm come from within and exist in people with spiritual beliefs.

Yang Yinbo said, "On a deep level, it's about belief.

It is the spirit that makes her shine and
develops her temperament.
It is a beauty with dignity, righteousness, and honesty."

Miss International China contest director indicated that
there will not be any re-election because of people's questions.
The three finalists will represent Chongqing
in the national competition.
