“White Wolf” Gang Leader Tries to Create Division in Taiwan's Sunflower Movement

Chang An-lo is the former leader of the Bamboo Union
crime brotherhood, who also goes by the name “White Wolf”.
On March 31, Chang An-lo said that he would gather
2,000 people, and storm Taiwan's Legislative Yuan.
On the afternoon of April 1, Chang An-lo led a group to
confront the student sit-in protests in the Legislative Yuan.
Analysts highlight Chang An-lo's underworld
background and his Chinese Communist Party links.
It is thought that his actions will make more
Taiwanese people support the student movement against the cross-strait trade pact.

The Sunflower student movement, standing against Taiwan's
trade pact, continues to occupying the Legislative Yuan.
This is due to lack of concrete
response from their government.
On March 31, “White Wolf” Chang An-lo, leader of the
China Unification Promotion Party, announced that he will take the congress from the students on April 1.

At 14:00 on April 1, Chang An-lo appeared.

He stood on a command vehicle and conducted
frequent verbal provocations towards the students.

At 16:30, three representatives from both sides met, but the
dialogue ended within 30 seconds over lack of mutual ground.
At 17:10, Chang An-lo announced that he will
dismiss the gang, but claimed he will return.

Taste of Life magazine photographer Sima Jih thinks
Chang An-lo's act will only push Taiwanese to be
even more supportive of the student movement.

Sima Jih: In fact, he was being helpful.
Everyone in Taiwan knows that he is a gangster.
After the 500,000 people took to the streets on March 30,
the crowd has reduced in number at the Legislative Yuan.
When “White Wolf” showed up, many people
actually rushed to the Legislative Yuan after
work, to support and protect the students there.

He has actually pushed more Taiwanese
people to pay attention to this movement.

After “White Wolf” tried to storm the Legislative Yuan,
netizens discussed his pro-China identity and his
nationality as being the People's Republic of China.

In an interview last July with Chinese Communist Party
(CCP) media “The Global Times”, Chang An-lo had
discussed cultivating the red grassroots voters in Taiwan.

Sima Jih: “People are guessing that
he actually came back with a mission.
We saw the live video of the day, and we
know that he had accepted media interviews.
His acts and words showed that he is trying to
create division in Taiwan and in opposition groups.
He is also trying to create an illusion that students
are the opposition party (DPP), and he also mentioned
those students are students of political underlings.”

Gao Wei-ban, Chairman of Victims of Investment
in China Association (VICA), indicated that there
are members of the Concentric Patriotism
Association (CPA) in the White Wolf's crowd.
Mr Gao stated on his Facebook page that the
same group of people play different roles.
At first, they were the men of the CPA attacking the
Falun Gong practitioners' peaceful demonstrations.
Then, they became the labor groups or representatives
of the workers against the Sunflower movement.
Isn't that who they are, taking advantage
of the civilized and non-violent Falun Gong
practitioners and Taiwanese students?

Gao Wei-ban:“I guess he needs to mobilize people.

Of course, he can mobilize those pro-China gangs
who typically are getting allowances from the CCP.
They are on salaries to conduct these activities.”

Chang An-lo fled to China in 1996, after being placed on
Taiwan's wanted list for his involvement in organized crime.
On June 29, 2013, eight days after the cross-strait
trade pact was secretly signed between China
and Taiwan, he returned to Taiwan. CPA
members were at the airport welcoming his return.
On March 19, the day after students occupied the
Legislative Yuan, Chang An-lo was seen outside.

Sima Jih: The CPA and White Wolf
have an indirect relationship.
The CCP blatantly supported the establishment
of the CPA in Taiwan, to harass civil organizations.
White Wolf has returned to Taiwan with similar purpose.

Likewise, the Hong Kong Youth Care Association
is also targeting the civil people in Hong Kong.
White Wolf had returned with an obvious purpose,
to target the students. I think everyone is aware of it.

Gao Wei-ban: “On the surface, it's to support the
trade pact, but in reality it is to threaten the students.
If Ma's government continues to ignore this,
I believe he's going to lose more of his reputation.”

Bloomberg View's article entitled, “Is China Losing
Taiwan?” commented on the Taiwanese President
Ma Ying-jeou's miscalculation in pro-China policies:

“Ma seems to have forgotten he's running
a democracy, not a Communist Party precinct.”
