【新唐人北京时间2021年12月21日讯】丹麦监牢人数自2015年起增加近两成，监狱守卫人数却减少近两成，引发过度拥挤问题。为舒缓监狱囚犯过多的问题，20日，巴尔干半岛国家科索沃同意丹麦以每年1500万欧元（约1700万美元）的价格，租用科索沃300间牢房。
中央社报导，两国12月1日签署意向声明。根据联合声明，这份协议初步效期5年，且有可能自动延长5年。
丹麦自2023年起将把囚犯送至科索沃的格尼拉内（Gjilan），这座城镇距离首都普里斯汀纳（Pristina）约50公里。
科索沃司法部长哈久（Albulena Haxhiu）说，科索沃有700至800个闲置监狱空间，同时强调，出租牢房“将适用丹麦法律”。
丹麦上周指出，送往科索沃的囚犯会是服刑期满将被驱逐出境的外国人。
