the traditional July 1 parade in HK to express discontent with Beijing policy.
It's reported that Hong Kong legislative council member and
League of Social Democrats (LSD) chair, Liang Guoxiong,

not to participate in the parade, otherwise people
around him and his assistant would bear the consequence.
Liang thought this was a threat, and reported to the police.
On Sunday the LSD in front of the Hong Kong (HK)

asking for investigation of the threatening phone call.
Also, Apple Daily, who has supported the July 1st Parade,
had one of their newspaper drop off locations set on fire
on the morning of June 30, destroying 26,000 papers.
Jimmy Lai, CEO of Next Media-owned Apple Daily,
says that these events will cause more HK people
to participate in the parade.
-- German Media: July 1st Is Coming, the CCP Has External and Internal Conflicts
Deutsche Welle published an article titled
"July 1st Is Coming, the CCP Has External and Internal Conflicts"
on its Chinese website on June 30, to analyze the CCP's plight.
The article says that the economic crisis in China
has reached a tipping point, and raised concerns about
whether Xi Jinping is able to change the situation.
The"agreement of cross-strait service trade"recently signed
has also caused uproar and discontent in Taiwanese society.
Lots of Hong Kong people plan to go to the Central District.
The article quoted Apple Daily's comment saying that
Hong Kong's freedom and rule of law is fading,
with it's core values challenged, and Hong Kong's people
don't feel peace of mind as they did in the past.
An editorial on Apple Daily titled:
"A silent good man will become an ally of evil"
encourages people to participate in the parade, saying:
"On July 1st, you know what you should do."
--Villagers and Police Clash in South China
On June 28, clashes between villagers and police took place
in Dongjiang village, Liangzhou City, Guangdong Province.
A police vehicle was turned upside down and smashed.
According to a Chinese pro-democracy group's website,
villagers protested a project by local authorities to build a
highway between Guangdong and Guangxi Provinces.
Villagers said that the government didn't follow
the original plan to build the highway,
and with the rainy seasons arrival,
the village may get flooded.
On the same day, villagers in Yangzhou City of
Jiangsu Province similarly overturned a police car in revolt.
Sources say that the authorities conspired with businessmen
to illegally demolish Majia village in Yangzhou City.
They sent thugs to beat villagers, and forced villagers to
sign the agreement.
Many villagers were hospitalized due to their injuries.
Villagers called police, but police did nothing upon arriving.
Angry villagers thus turned over the police car.
On June 29, hundreds of villagers walked to a highway,
blocking the road to protest.
