Xi Jinping Visits Hunan But Shuns Mao's Hometown?

While the Third Plenary is approaching, CCP leader Xi Jinping
pays a sudden visit to Hunan and Changsha.
Contrary to former leaders' routine, Xi skips Mao Zedong's
former residence, located in Shaoshan, Hunan.
Much speculation is going on and the following is our coverage.

November 3, Xi Jinping visited Tujia and Miao Autonomous
Prefecture located in Wuling Mountain of Hunan.
Xi went about and personally picked a pomelo in the field.
In this poorest region, one of many in China, Xi went into a
wooden home. The only electric item in the household is an
energy-saving lamp.

The next day, Xi Jinping bypassed Shaoshan and rushed to
Changsha, where he visited an electronic group, a pollution
control Research Center at Central South University, and
a technology company.

Hua Po, a Beijing political commentator: "He did not visit Mao's
former residence for fear of being labeled a conservative.
In the Third Plenum he'll be talking about reform which
requires him to cloak on as a reformist.
Visiting Mao's former residence at this point would not be
appropriate."

Commentator Hua Po believes Xi Jinping's visit to the poor
area is to show he cares about their livelihood, and his visit to
Changsha indicates his desire to develop technology for
economic transformation.

Hong Kong media Apple Daily reported that a visit to Shaoshan,
Hunan has been an inherent orthodox of the CCP leaders.
In March 1991, Jiang Zemin was there to pay tribute to Mao
Zedong as General Secretary of the CCP and Chairman of the
Central Military Commission;

2003, Hu Jintao also specifically visited Shaoshan shortly after
he became the Chinese President.

Apple Daily: Xi Jinping revealed his and his father's deep
feelings for Shaoshan.
In the 1980s when reform and opening up were first initiated,
the non-Maoist rose, Xi Zhongxun actually defended Mao
Zedong by visiting Shaoshan three times to pay tribute to Mao.

His last visit was when he was the Politburo Standing
Committee & Vice-Chairman of the National People's Congress.

In July this year, during Xi Jinping's visit to Hubei Province,
Xi visited Mao's former residence in Wuhan.
He specifically gave his instruction to Hubei provincial
party secretary:
"This year marks the 120th anniversary of Chairman Mao.
Mao's former residence must become the
Patriotic Education and revolutionary Education Base."

In fact, Xi Jinping almost died in the name of "anti-CCP via
novels" by Mao Zedong.
At the age of 15, Xi was sent to the countryside,
where he stayed for nearly 7 years.

Yao Jianfu, former researcher of Rural Development Research
Center of the State Council told Deutsche Welle that:
Xi Jinping took part in the writing of the second volume of the
"Chinese Communist Party history" in 2011.
His affirmative recognition of the "three major reforms,
anti-rightist, economic development during the Cultural
Revolution" and his talk about "two no-denying" of the CCP
history can be corroborated that,
both Xi Jinping and the former Chongqing Party
Secretary Bo Xilai take the same political route, i.e.,
the Maoist route."

Xi Jinping's unexpected by-pass of Mao's former residence
is just an expediency.
He has done his job to regulate the liberals as the new leader,
he does not have to please the leftist by visiting Shaoshan
at this point.

Recently, the arresting and suppression of dissidents,
reporters, and the media have intensified to the highest
extent in recent years.

Foreign media have revealed that the CCP's propaganda to
"occupy the new media battlefield" and "criticize Western
universal values" are associated with Xi Jinping.

However, there are also comments that Xi's trip to Hunan
concerns his desire to purge Zhou Yongkang and his allies
in the Politics and Law Committee.

Political commentator Xia Xiaoqiang explains that whenever
there is an event of international focus in China, fatal incidents
would occur in Hunan Politics and Law Committee,

such as Li Wangyang was killed, petitioner Tang Hui was sent
to the labor camp, private entrepreneur Zheng Chengjie are
suddenly executed by death penalty, as well as the recent
New Express incident.

Xia Xiaoqiang, Political commentator: "The fundamental
reason is that Chen Yongzhou (New Express reporter) exposed
the financial secrets of the Zoomlion (company), and the massive
corruption involving the Politics and Law Committee of Hunan
and Zhou Yongkang and his descendant."

Xia Xiaoqiang believes Xi Jinping's purpose was to resolve
Hunan political and law system controlled by Zhou Yongkang.

October 31, hoax bombs threat took place in four airplanes
in Changsha route. It seems Hunan really has some issues.
