烏克蘭的反政府示威已經取得勝利,議會罷免了總統亞努科維奇後,烏克蘭各地開始清除與蘇聯統治和共產黨有關的痕跡。

據《美國之音》報導,在烏克蘭工業重鎮「第聶伯羅彼得羅夫斯克」市,當地市議會議員決定把市中心的「弗拉基米爾-列寧」廣場改名為「反政府示威英雄」廣場。而在一天前,當地市民推倒了這個廣場上的列寧塑像。

在東部城市蘇梅市,當地議會也決定把位於市中心警察局對面的「五一」大街,改名為「反政府示威英雄」大街。市議員說,因為「五一節」與過去蘇聯時代的共產黨統治聯繫在一起。

在中部的切爾卡瑟州首府切爾卡瑟市,當地議會也在討論要把市中心的「蘇聯廣場」改名為「反政府示威英雄」廣場。在過去兩天,切爾卡瑟州總共有9座列寧塑像被推倒。切爾卡瑟州議會還計劃立法,禁止共產黨和總統亞努科維奇所領導的地區黨在當地活動。

鎮壓民眾示威 烏克蘭官員將受嚴懲

據報導,烏克蘭議會已經下令,禁止那些鎮壓示威民眾,手上沾滿示威者鮮血的嫌疑人和官員出境。已經出逃的將面臨國際通緝。

烏克蘭議會還將批准一項專門法律,為未來海牙國際法庭審判那些參與鎮壓示威民眾的官員和軍警,清除障礙。

2月18號,烏克蘭當局在首都基輔開槍鎮壓示威民眾,造成100多人死傷。目前被罷免的總統亞努科維奇和其他政府高級官員去向不明。

香港6000人參加「反滅聲」遊行

「香港記者協會」等多個團體2月23號發起「反滅聲」遊行,捍衛新聞自由,「香港記協」表示,有超過6000人參加。

遊行人士佩戴像徵新聞自由的藍絲帶,並打出「反河蟹、反滅聲」的標語,遊行隊伍最後在香港政府總部前進行示威集會,各發起團體及支持組織的代表逐一上臺發言。

香港《明報》員工關注組、和新成立的香港「獨立評論人協會」也參與發起遊行,遊行還獲得香港泛民主派政黨包括民主黨、公民黨和工黨等黨派的支持,都有派人參加;香港資深傳媒人程翔、和最近被解職的前《香港商業電臺》主持人李慧玲等,也都參加了遊行。

香港最近連續發生打壓新聞自由事件,包括《明報》無故撤換總編輯、李慧玲被解僱、大陸企業停止在香港免費報紙「am730」上登廣告等,外界質疑,這是北京擔心香港輿論持續反對中共控制香港雙普選,而打壓香港新聞自由的行動。

Ukraine Starts Clearing Marks of Communist Party

The Ukrainian Parliament has dismissed
President Viktor Yanukovych.
This move comes after large scale
anti-government demonstrations.
Ukrainian people are clearing away the marks
of the Communist Party and the Soviet Union.

Voice of America reports that the local council are renaming
“Lenin Square” as the “Square of Maidan Heroes”.
The square is in the important industrial
city of Dnepr Dnepropetrovsk.
Prior to this move, local citizens pulled
down the Lenin statue in the square.

In the eastern city of Sumy, the local council
has decided to rename a city center street,
to remove association with the soviet era.

In Cherkasy City, the local council also
discussed renaming “Soviet Union Square.”
Within the past two days, nine Lenin statues
have been torn down in Cherkasy State.

Ukrainian Parliament also plans to establish legislation,
forbidding activity from the regional party led by the
Communist Party, or President Viktor Yanukovych’s Party.

Officials will also face heavy punishment
for repression of public demonstrations.

It is said that the Ukrainian Parliament has
ordered an extradition for those officials who
suppressed protesters, and are stained with blood.

Officials who have already fled will face international arrest.

The parliament also approved a special law to facilitate
future International Criminal Court trials for those officials,
and police, involved in the repression of protesters.

On February 18, Ukrainian authorities fired on
protesters, resulting in more than 100 deaths.
Current whereabouts of deposed Viktor Yanukovych,
and other senior government officials, is unknown.

Hong Kong: 6,000 People Participate In Free Speech Parade

More than 6,000 people were reported in
attendance of a free speech parade in Hong Kong.
The event was partly organized by the Hong Kong
Journalists Association, to protect freedom of press.

Demonstrators rallied in the front of
the Hong Kong government buildings.
They wore blue ribbons, a sign of press freedom, and
carried banners saying, “Free Speech, Free Hong Kong.”

The representatives of different organizations spoke in turn.

Hong Kong’s Ming Pao Staff Group, and
the Independent Review Association, were
also involved in launching the parade.

Participants included the Hong Kong Democratic
Party, Civic Party and the Labour Party.
Senior Hong Kong journalist Ching Cheong, and the
recently dismissed the radio host Li Huiling attended.

There has been continuing suppression
of press freedom in Hong Kong.
Ming Pao made an editor replacement, and
Li Huiling was dismissed from being a radio host.

The Beijing authorities are concerned over
continual criticism of the Communist regime
in Hong Kong media and public opinion.
