【新唐人北京時間2021年12月21日訊】丹麥監牢人數自2015年起增加近兩成，監獄守衛人數卻減少近兩成，引發過度擁擠問題。為舒緩監獄囚犯過多的問題，20日，巴爾幹半島國家科索沃同意丹麥以每年1500萬歐元（約1700萬美元）的價格，租用科索沃300間牢房。
中央社報導，兩國12月1日簽署意向聲明。根據聯合聲明，這份協議初步效期5年，且有可能自動延長5年。
丹麥自2023年起將把囚犯送至科索沃的格尼拉內（Gjilan），這座城鎮距離首都普裡斯汀納（Pristina）約50公裡。
科索沃司法部長哈久（Albulena Haxhiu）說，科索沃有700至800個閒置監獄空間，同時強調，出租牢房「將適用丹麥法律」。
丹麥上週指出，送往科索沃的囚犯會是服刑期滿將被驅逐出境的外國人。
