The CCP Keeps Distorting Historical Facts despite High-profile Commemoration of the War against Japan

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) mouthpieces have
actively made high-profile propaganda on the 77th anniversary of
the Marco Polo Bridge Incident.

The CCP president Xi Jinping also showed up at a
commemoration of the War of Resistance Against Japan.

Xi made speeches that criticized Japan and claimed it was
the CCP that accomplished the historical achievement
of the salvation of China.

However, retired Kuomintang general Hau Pei-tsun, who was
invited to the commemoration, made a statement that:

the War of resisting Japan was led by Chiang Kai-shek,
the second president of the Republic of China (RoC).

As disputes continue about which party has played
the dominating role in leading the war,

who is distorting the historical truth, the CCP or the ROC?
Let’s look at the report below.

On July 7, Xi visited the Museum of the War of Chinese
People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression
located near the Lugou Bridge.

Xi unveiled a statue named “Medal of Independence and
Freedom” and made a speech at the event.

He also indirectly criticized Japan for “repeatedly denying
or glorifying its invasion of China” and “impairing mutual
trust and creating regional tension”.

Xi said “no one could possibly distort historical facts”.

Hau Pei-tsun, former premier of ROC, was invited by
the CCP from Taiwan.

He also attended the commemoration held at the museum
of resisting Japan’s invasion.

Hau had noticed that Kuomintang’s contributions were not
listed among the historical records in the museum.

Hau thus said “it was president Chiang Kai-shek who led
the war against Japan and nobody can deny this fact.”

Hau Pei-tsun, the 95-year-old retired general, also inquired
about why the museum had no record of the “Call for United
Efforts to Save Our Nation Proclamation”.

Hau said, “the Proclamation is important historical
material about the second Kuomintang-CCP co-operation”.

On July 22, 1937, the CCP released the “Call for United
Efforts to Save Our Nation Proclamation”.

The proclamation claimed the CCP would follow The Three
Principles of the People and fight for it.

The CCP also said it would stop its “Overturn Kuomintang
with violence” policy, abolishing the Soviet government,

making the Red Army join the Kuomintang military
and follow Kuomintang’s ruling.

Statistics show that, over 35 million Chinese injured or
died during the war against Japan. Direct and indirect economic
loss totaled 600 billion dollars.

During the war, Kuomintang’s army had a loss of 1,319,958
only in its land force.

The number of wounded was 1,761,135, and 422,479 died of
illness. The overall casualties of Kuomintang were over
3.65 million.

More than 200 general-rank officers fell in battles.
In comparison, the CCP only lost two of its general-rank
officers.

Sun Wenguang, retired professor of Shandong University:”
Now there is a folk saying amongst the Chinese that,

the CCP had used one tenth of its strength to resist Japan,
two tenths to attack Kuomintang and seven tenths to
develop itself during the war.”

Sun Wenguang commented that the CCP’s military only
had tens of thousands of soldiers when the war against
Japan broke out.

However, when the war ended it had developed into
a million troops.

Then the CCP immediately started the war against
Kuomintang’s army who was extremely tired after fighting
against Japan, and successfully seized power.

Liu Yinquan, former Chinese professor of history:”
The historical truth is, the CCP did little to resist Japan.

Indeed Japan could have invaded the Soviet Union.
However, it invaded China instead and our people have
suffered so much from its invasion.”

Liu Yinquan, former history professor now living in the U.S.,
said Japan had been prepared to fight against the Soviet Union
before it chose to invade China.

However, the CCP which was then a branch of the Soviet
Communist International had actively responded in “protecting
the Soviet Union”.

It co-operated with the pro-USSR group inside
Kuomintang and led the war that should have been
between Japan and the Soviet Union into China.

This year, the CCP has shown an unusually high-profile
attitude in commemorating the 77th anniversary of
the war against Japan.

Almost all official TV stations and online media made live
broadcast of commemorating events, and all Chinese
newspaper echoed in attacking Japan.

The CCP premier Li Keqiang also made active comments
in urging Japan to “learn from the history”
in a press conference.

Sun Wenguang:”The CCP is trying to create anti-Japan
sentiments to distract public attention.

There are currently many difficult domestic issues, such as
requests for rehabilitating the June 4 Incident, persecution
of religious groups and freedom of religion.”

Sun Wenguang said Chinese people are showing soaring
willingness to protect their rights;

the CCP is also aware of the public anger against its
ubiquitous corruption.

Therefore the CCP needs to “create something” to
distract public attention.

Sun Wenguang further commented that in the past 60 years,
the CCP had kept showing an aggressive attitude
in invading other countries.

It had sent troops to “help” North Korea in “emancipating”
South Korea, but failed with a loss of 500,000 soldiers.

It had invaded Vietnam and fought against India and
the Soviet Union. The CCP never reflected on itself over those
aggressive acts.

Sun concluded that it is the CCP’s military power that
serves as a major threat to the regional peace.
