hat Is After All The Anti-Occupy Moves?
Since Occupy Central took place, the anti-occupy group
has launched a number of soft tactics including fake police,
a mother team, a grandma team, besides the violence attacks
on the protesters.
When the Communist mouthpiece People's Daily criticized
Occupy Central as being in turmoil, Hong Kong media
were besieged by the anti-occupy group.
Commentators refer these acts as likely preparing
for force eviction of the protest.
On Monday afternoon, more than 20 mothers
went to the Admiralty, holding panels and banners.
The leading mother told the students that the demand
for genuine universal suffrage has been expressed
and it is time to return to school and release
their families' worries.
It is also said the protests have seriously obstructed traffic.
The students paid no attention to her lobbying.
But media reports revealed the lead mother's true identity
has been revealed by mainlanders through an online search.
She is Connie WC Wong, a delegate of the CPPCC
(Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference),
the president of the Federation of HK Guangxi Community
Organizations, director general of Kowloon Federation
of Associations, and Managing Director
of two HK companies.
After being identified, Connie Wong exclaimed she went
as an individual, not as a representative of the CPPCC
National Committee.
In fact, the anti-occupy group composed of thousands
of political groups of Hong Kong businesses and labors
is led by several leaders with the identities of the delegates
of the CPPCC.
Hong Kong writer Zhang Chengjue believes these "mothers"
went with a mission from Beijing.
If they truly care about the students, they will understand
the students’ pursuit of universal values and beliefs.
The students are fighting for their future.
Zhang Chengjue: "These students are not kids.
Those who join the protests are at least high schoolers.
They have their own values and beliefs.
Hong Kong's children are not ignorant.
They will not blindly accept any concept."
In fact, a grandma team also showed up
in Mongkok a few days ago.
At 15:00 last Friday, Sheung Shui District Rural Committee
vice chairman Simon Fuk-tat Hau led a team of about 200
elderly to protest with banners against Occupy Central.
It was quite a challenge to some of the elderly who walked
with canes for a distance of 200 meters.
Other than the soft tactics, the anti-occupy group
also constantly provoked violence, attempted to disperse
protests and caused injury to an unknown number
of people.
Zhang Chengjue: "There are two types of people
in the anti-occupy group.
The main ones are those who often stand out
or organize people to oppose the protests,
such as Robert Yung Chow, who are obviously
mouthpieces for Beijing.
The other is the triad and the minions of local tyrants
in the New Territories."
After People's Daily proclaimed Occupy Central is under
turmoil on the 11th, anti-protest members besieged
Hong Kong’s Apple Daily for its supportive reports
of the protest.
They disrupt the distribution of newspaper by blocking
the building exit with trucks and tents.
Although the High Court issued a temporary restraining
order, but was ignored and torn up by anti-protest members
who received the order.
Apple Daily received a message, allegedly issued
by the "organizer", detailed participants would receive
HK$ 200 to 600 according to the time frame of blocking.
Earlier, people have exposed that cadres
of Longgang District, Shenzhen, have recruited
the anti-protest members with reward of transportation,
lunch, dinner and 500 yuan.
Beijing politics watcher Hua Po: "Their recent activities
are surely instructed by the central.
The purpose is to demonstrate majority people
in Hong Kong are against the Occupy Central
and the protests have created great harm
of the livelihood in Hong Kong.
It will give a very righteous excuse for its forceful eviction
at a later time.
That is, the act is to safeguard Hong Kong's life."
Hua Po indicates that Beijing is manipulating various means
to differentiate the people in the protests for one, and to hype
the Western hostile force’s support behind the protests
for the other.
The aim is to prepare for its force eviction
before the Fourth Plenary Session.
This is the exact practice as the suppression
during the 1989 students' protest.
Hua Po reminds the students to be more rational,
not to give an excuse for the authorities to clear areas
by force which would create tremendous loss
and make democracy in Hong Kong go backward.
