【新唐人2014年04月30日訊】2014英聯邦運動會，將於7月23日在蘇格蘭的格拉斯哥舉辦。按照皇室傳統，屆時女皇將親自主持開幕式。而之前舉行的英女皇接力棒傳遞儀式，相似於奧林匹克的火炬傳遞。28日，女皇接力棒抵達加拿大首都渥太華。請看記者安妮的報導。
今天（4月28日 ）加拿大總督府舉行隆重儀式迎接英女皇接力棒的到來。帶有蘇格蘭民族文化特色的2014英聯邦運動會女皇接力棒，於9:45分點抵達加拿大總督府。
曾獲得121枚獎牌的加拿大前著名運動員Chantal Petitclerc榮幸成為女皇接力棒傳遞手，將女皇接力棒傳遞給總督約翰斯頓（David Johnston)。
自2013年10月9日女皇接力棒從蘇格蘭啓程，歷經70個國家，行程19萬公裡。沿途參與的各國運動員達4500人。經過288天後，於7月23日返回運動會主辦城市－格拉斯哥。
加拿大著名運動員尚塔爾（Chantsl Petitclerc）：「英女皇接力棒將在加拿大停留4天，感到很榮耀。運動會比賽已為期不遠，令人激動和興奮。」
國家體育部長、運動員代表以及部分大專院校學生等參加了迎接儀式。
華裔留學生：「我覺得挺開心的，挺興奮的，也想多了解了解。」
據組委會介紹，加拿大今年將派遣265名優秀運動員參加2014英聯邦運動會。

The Queen's Baton began its 190,000-kilometre journey to 70 nations and territories on October 9th, 2013 when her Majesty first handed off the ceremonial baton to Scottish spring legend Allan Wells. It has since continued its historic journey around the Commonwealth, calling the 4500 athletes to Glasgow for the Games.Following 288-day trek, the baton will return to the Queen at the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony on July 23, 2014 where Her Majesty will remove message and read it alound, officailly declaring the Games open.
