郭永祥去年6月起被中纪委调查。《法新社》评论说,郭永祥被双开是中共进一步收紧了围绕前最高警察头目的虎钳。

Guo Yongxiang Punished for Corruption

On April 9 former Politburo Standing Committee, Zhou
Yongkang's confidant Guo Yongxiang was expelled from
the party and his administrative post.

The Communist Central Commission for Discipline Inspection
(CCDI) announced Guo Yongxiang was morally corrupt for
taking advantage of his official role to seek benefits for others.

He also accepted huge bribes for his son to seek
benefits from operating activities.

The former vice governor of Sichuan Province and chairman of
the Foundation for Arts and Literary Circles in Sichuan, Guo
Yongxiang, was once the secretary of Zhou Yongkang.

He followed Zhou into China oil group during his term in
Sichuan Province.

Guo Yongxiang was put under investigation by CCDI last June.

Guo Yongxiang's expulsion was seen as a further clamp
down on the security tsar, Zhou Yongkang.

More Lawyers Arrested over Jiansanjiang Incident

Jiansanjiang police illegal activities continue even though the
four lawyers were released.
Rescue activities have not stopped because their 15 supporters
were kept in prison.

On April 9, Guangzhou lawyers Liu Zhengqing and Chen
Keyun were taken away on their way to Jiansanjiang.
According to others participating in the rescue activity, the
lawyers were removed by Guangzhou security at the Changsha
Huanghua airport. They have been missing since then.

They were said to be on their way to Jiansanjiang, where
the 15 illegally detained protestants were.

Amnesty International Calls For Investigation
Into Lawyers Being Tortured

The international community has continued to raise concerns
over the Jiansanjiang incident.
On April 8, Amnesty International once again issued a statement
calling on the Chinese authorities to investigate allegations into
the four lawyers who were detained and beaten by Jiansanjiang
police.
They demanded that the Chinese Communist Party ( CCP)
bring those responsible to justice.

Amnesty International said that following the abolition of
Re-education Through Labour in China at the end of 2013,
the CCP is increasingly using other forms of arbitrary detention.

Legal education centers are being used to hold people previously
detained in Re-education Through Labour camps.

Ilham's Daughter Testifies at Congressional Hearings

Beijing renowned Uyghur scholar Ilham Tohti was arrested in
January this year.
The Communist regime has forbidden any visitors.

On April 8, in Washington his daughter Jewher Ilham testified
at the Congressional-Executive Commission on China.

Jewher Ilham said that her father has never advocated separatism
and has always been against violence.
The Communist authorities' accusation of her father inciting
division and hatred, and supporting terrorism is groundless.

19-year-old Jewher Ilham is now studying at Indiana
University.
